A bit about me

I wanted to provide a brief overview of who I am, before you read on. This way, if I am not the person you are interested in, we can part ways and still be friends.

You're still reading....this is a good sign....

I am Nicola.

I am a remarkably average person.

This probably breaks a key rule of any blog making 101 course on "how to attract and maintain the interest of new people" as it's hardly the most inspiring start to a blog.

I am in my 30s, I live in London; stuck in a rented flat because I can't afford to save up a deposit. I could waffle on forever about finances....

Any way..I decided to do a PhD to try and improve my career prospects. To really challenge myself, I also had a baby.

I have just finished the PhD and the monster I have is now 3.

There have been some key moments since beginning my adventures, in academia and motherhood, upon which everyone has the same questions. Now I have a little bit more time (and sanity), I thought this blog would/might/could offer support/opinions/information to other people who are either considering or are currently embarking on one or both of the adventures I have.

So, hello!

Mum, PhD.
